About us

Over the past 15 years, the insurance landscape in South Africa has changed considerably. From scandals and admissions that continue to rock the credibility of leading role-players in the industry, the rise of specialist Underwriting Agencies and niche offshore markets, to the introduction of new legislation which has forever changed the way in which insurance will be transacted; policy holders have never before had so much confusion to navigate on the way to finding suitable risk transfer solutions.

Trident Advantage CC was born from the realisation that insurance buyers need a new level of expertise to help navigate these volatile waters.

It is no longer sufficient to just have a broker; policy holders need to partner with a professional service provider who not only takes a personal interest, but will provide a level of expertise and service that adds tangible value to the policy holder / his business.

In the fast changing world of the 21st century, such a service provider needs to be flexible enough to respond to changes in the market and business environment. This necessitates a fluid business model that is completely focussed on providing uncompromising professional service and advice to its clients.

The Managing Member, Pieter Venter, has been actively operating in the insurance industry since 1994. Over the past 15 years he has built up experience in both the underwriting and broking sectors of the industry spending 5 years as underwriter and 10 years as broker. He has a DiI (Diploma in Insurance) achieved in 2008 and in the same year became an Associate to the Insurance Institute of South Africa.

He has been operating mainly in the Marine sector where he has built up experience in both the local and international market. His clients have included local, parastatal and multi-national corporations as well as foreign businesses requiring specific marine expertise on the African continent.

As from the 1st of October 2010, the Cape Town office has been bolstered by the arrival of Gouwah Jumat in the position of Claims Manager. She has been in the industry for 15 years and has built up  a reputation as one of the foremost Marine Claims people in the country. Prior to joining Trident Advantage CC she worked at Aon South Africa where she managed claims for a wide variety of clients including large multinationals and parastatals. Gouwah has worked for both insurance companies and brokerages and the experience she built up has served her clients well - knowing not only what insurers require but also how to best negotiate claim settlements.

In addition to the Cape Town office, Trident has an associated company operating out of Walvis Bay, Namibia in the name of Neptune Risk Managers (Pty) Ltd. Neptune is headed up by Marlies Alberts who is also a Member of Trident Advantage CC. Neptune has been operating since 1999. During the past ten years the business has grown to become one of the leading Marine and General Insurance brokerages in Namibia providing expertise to the major corporations operating in the country and across its borders.
